The Bandits have now signed a total of 10 free agents, including these latest 7 which were announced over the past few weeks. Let's get to know the newest members of the squad real quick!!
Darrell Adams Jr is a 6'3 240 pound WR who will be playing a role as a receiving TE with the Tampa Bay Bandits. He went to college at Azusa Pacific which is a small California D2 school whose football program is now defunct. In his 3 seasons there he had 75 receptions for 1132 yards and unfortunately had no NFL opportunities afterwards. So he took his talents to the Graz Giants, a football team part of the Austrian Football League which plays by NCAA football rules. He absolutely dominated for them garnering 40 receptions for 823 yds and 11 TDs in only 8 games. Bandits did not utilize the TE position much so hopefully this is a sign Todd Haley is in the lab working on retooling the offense to feature this freak athlete next season.
Next on the list is RB David Hamm who played at McNeese State University after transferring from UTEP in 2014. He played 31 games while at McNeese where he gained 1544 yds on 309 carries and scored 11 TDs. Afterwards he earned an invite to Oakland Raiders rookie mini camp in 2019 that unfortunately did not manifest into a practice squad/roster spot. So he took his talents to the AAL (American Arena League) with the Charlotte Thunder. He shined bright with the Thunder one time scoring 5 TDs in one game!! He finished that season with 22 TDs and 469 yds with an average of 5 yards per carry. The Bandits recently lost BJ Emmons to the CFL so good to see we got another guy ready to come into the RB room to replace him.
The last offensive addition to the team is 6'3 300 lb offensive lineman Kwan Stallworth who played college ball at Valdosta State in Georgia after transferring from Murray State. After little to no interest from NFL teams he took his talents to the NAL(National Arena League) where he played with the Jacksonville Sharks and earned second team "All-NAL" (their version of all pro) at the defensive tackle position. The Bandits signed him as an OL so I would assume he's not going to the defensive side of the ball but good to know he could if we needed him to!!
Abdulmalik Lawal (Malik Lawal) played his college ball at Arizona State University. He played in 34 games, totaling 33 TKL, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and a blocked kick. Mostly used as a rotational guy on defense and a special teams stud for the Sun Devils but made his presence known when he got his opportunities. He then went to Tulane university in Louisiana in 2019 where he accrued 37 total TKL, 2 TFL, and 1 Sack. Tulane held a "virtual pro day" for Malik but unfortunately I couldn't find any results of his 40 or broad jump or anything like that. He stands at 6'1 and is listed at 226 lbs.
Karrheem Darrington is a 6'1 195 lb safety from Bethel University in Tennessee where he earned 2x all conference honors. He recorded 140 tackles, 11 picks, and 10 pass break ups. He most recently played in the LFA which is a football league that plays in Mexico for the Raptors of Naucalpan. He would go on to have 54 tackles, 5 picks, 13 PBU, 3 blocked FGs, and 1 TD. Great addition of speed here for the defense as well with his blazing fast 4.3 40 yd dash time!
Another DB is added to the mix with 6'0 190 lb Kyree Woods from San Diego State University. In 36 games with the Aztecs he recorded 73 total tackles, 8 TFL, 3 sacks, 7 PBU, and 2 forced fumbles. Unfortunately he tore his ACL in his senior season in 2019 and didn't get a shot at football again until he joined the IFL with the Arizona Rattlers for their 2022 season this spring. His rookie season there was an absolute success as he earned 1st team All-IFL honors with a league leading 9 interceptions and 34 passes defended. He also had a pick-six as well as 69 total tackles(47 solo) and 2 forced fumbles. Just seems like an all around DAWG, I think the Bandits hit a home run with this signing.
Kahzin Daniels is a 6'4 240 lb OLB/Edge rusher who played college ball at the University of Charleston at West Virginia. While there he would earn 2nd team All-MEC(Mountain East Conference) honors in his Junior year and then 1st team his senior year. He would finish his career as a Golden Eagle as the all time sack leader in school history with 34.5! He would sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in April 2019 before being waived with an injury designation in August. He would then go on to be re-signed to the Bucs and appeared in two games for them before being cut September of 2020. By the way, he has done all of this while being legally blind in one eye! I can not wait to see what he can bring to this Bandits defense this season!
