New Orleans Breakers Mock Draft 1.0

The USFL Draft is getting closer by the day, which means it’s time for mock draft season. The USFL has not announced the format for their draft so this mock draft was created under the assumption of a 5 round format. Players were picked from the Hula Bowl because they are the most realistic options, and the USFL scouts are there for the game.

Round 1:

EJ Jenkins / TE / Georgia Tech

Ht: 6’7 Wt: 243

EJ was listed as a WR in college, but is transitioning to TE at the professional level. The Breakers main need as of right now is at the TE position. Jenkins is athletic and would fit well into the Breakers passing offense.

Stats: 17 rec 316 yards 3 TD

Round 2:

Jarrick Bernard-Converse CB LSU

Ht: 6’1 Wt: 205

The Breakers had the number one pass defense in the USFL last season, but lost their top corner, Ike Brown, to the NFL. Bernard-Converse would bring length and experience to New Orleans. Replacing Ike Brown won’t be easy, but someone like Bernard-Converse could create competition for the vacant spot.

Stats: 30 Tackles 2 Int

Round 3:

Deuce Watts WR Tulane

Ht: 6’2 Wt: 200

Watts was a fan favorite for the Green Wave by making big plays weekly. Deuce would bring size and speed to the WR room, and as a fan you can never have enough of those two things. He would be able to compete for an outside WR spot immediately.

Stats: 33 rec 657 yards 8 TD

Round 4:

Tanner Morgan QB Minnesota

Ht: 6’2 Wt: 215

Morgan is arguably the most prolific passer in Gopher history. Throwing for over 60 TD’s, he’d bring lots of experience and IQ to the QB room. After losing Kyle Sloter and Shea Patterson, Tanner would have a chance to earn the starting spot upon arrival.

Stats: 1382 yards 13 TD (4 Rush)

Round 5:

T.K. McLendon Jr. DL EKU

Ht: 6’5 Wt: 300

McLendon, a former LSU Tiger who transferred to EKU in 2021, burst onto the scene this past season. He causes havoc in the backfield for QB’s and RB’s. You can never cause too many sacks or TFL’s, so getting TK would be a great pick for the Blue Waves defensive front.

Stats: 58 tkls 11.5 tfl 6 sacks
